This new arch did change GDN slightly:

Unlike the original GDN, which uses a SiLU output gate, we use the bounded sigmoid gate in Equation (11) and observe consistent improvements across our experiments.

So would be nice to see that compared to "GDN-2" (nvidia)

Another thing is that GDN-2 is more compute heavy, so maybe they just did not like that tradeoff, who knows.
